The U Curve

At the beginning of the year, Lauren, our wonderful school counselor, ran a session for our staff on the topic of cultural adaptation and adjustment.  I was thankful for the session then, but am thankful even more now as I start to really feel the effects of culture shock in a major way.

Lauren showed us this graph, which charts a typical missionary’s outlook throughout their first year on the mission field. You can see from the arrow where exactly I am falling in my overall journey towards adaptation and feelings toward Africa.  Prayers are much appreciated. 🙂

  1. Kandi was telling me about this, since she was away to both Mexico and Ecuador. Nice to know you’re normal anyway! Did Lauren also give you strategies?
    Love you lots, Ma

  3. An update! Yay! Though, sorry you are in this particular phase right now. 😦 We miss you here in California! We were just talking about you in Bible Study. Know that pretty much all of Church of the Canyons is behind you, praying for you and excited to see what the Lord does with you in Dar. *Hugs*
